Apixaban Tablets 5 mg is an anticoagulant medication that is used to prevent and treat blood clots. It belongs to a class of drugs known as direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) and is commonly prescribed for conditions that require the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism, particularly in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF).  

Active Ingredient:

• Apixaban: Apixaban is the active ingredient in these tablets. It works by inhibiting Factor Xa, an important component in the coagulation cascade that leads to the formation of blood clots.

Uses:

1. Prevention of Stroke and Systemic Embolism: Apixaban is primarily used in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism. Atrial fibrillation increases the risk of blood clots forming in the heart, which can travel to the brain and cause a stroke.

2. Treatment of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) and Pulmonary Embolism (PE): Apixaban is used for the treatment of DVT and PE. DVT is a condition where blood clots form in the deep veins, usually in the legs, and PE occurs when these clots travel to the lungs.

3. Prevention of DVT and PE: It is also used to prevent DVT and PE in patients who have undergone surgery, particularly after hip or knee replacement surgeries.
